Maine Dental Association elects new board president

The Maine Dental Association Board of Directors recently elected Norma Desjardins, DDS, as its next president, marking the first time women have held the board’s three executive positions.

Dr. Desjardins, who practices in Presque Isle, earned her dental degree from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, The County reported July 15. Previously a member of the Health Services Advisory Committee, she learned of the large number of children not receiving preventive and restorative dental care, which led her to establish a nonprofit dental office, the St. Apollonia Dental Clinic of Presque Isle.

The MDA’s board of directors currently has eight members.
