Maine Gov. Janet Mills signed into law a bill that establishes fees and caps on fees for dental provider licensing and permits.

LD 448 fixes a previous law that inadvertently repealed fee caps for dental provider licensing and permits.

The general fees for any one purpose cannot exceed $550, initial or renewal licenses and permits for most dental providers cannot exceed $1,000 and initial or renewal licenses for a specific type of provider, such as dental hygienists or dental assistants, cannot exceed $200.

The law is considered an emergency measure, meaning it will go into effect immediately.
