A Maine man has been charged with arson after allegedly setting an orthodontics practice on fire, ABC affiliate WMTW reported May 13.

Bangor Braces suffered damage to its lobby from an overnight fire that occurred earlier this week. The office was forced to close May 13, but reopened May 14 for patient appointments. The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire caused approximately $20,000 in damage.

Investigators determined that the fire was intentionally started outside of the building near two plastic trash cans.

Kerry Smith, 30, was arrested and charged with arson in connection with the fire.
