A Massachusetts man has been found guilty of several charges related to the practice of illegal dentistry.
Fritz Gabriel, 71, billed the state’s Medicaid program for a variety of dental services that were never provided, as well as for services he provided at a dental clinic despite not having a license. Mr. Gabriel is estimated to have fraudulently obtained approximately $245,000 from Medicaid, according to a Feb. 17 news release.
Mr. Gabriel also issued prescriptions using the registration number and credentials of a licensed dentist without that dentist’s knowledge or authorization.
Mr. Gabriel was found guilty of one count of making Medicaid false claims, one count of larceny over $1,200, one count of practicing unlicensed dentistry and one count of illegally prescribing controlled substances.
Mr. Gabriel’s sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 26.
