Median pay for dental hygienists hits $98K

The District of Columbia has the highest annual median wage for dental hygienists of any state, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In total, there were 16 states where the median wage for dental hygienists was more than $100,000.

Below are the annual median wages for dental hygienists across each state and Washington, D.C., based on May 2025 salary data published by the bureau. 

Across the U.S., the annual median wage for dental hygienists is $98,100.

The agency updated salary data May 15, 2026, to reflect 2025 information, the latest available.
