Northern Lights Dental Clinic in Waterville, Minn., was surrounded by floodwaters from Lake Tetonka, causing the practice to close in June. The flooding started June 23 and was caused by “unprecedented water levels” leading to wastewater being discharged onto the streets, according to a release from the city of Waterville’s office.
Bill Struve, DDS, the owner of the practice, realized that the water did not damage his building, equipment or water system. He then offered canoe rides to patients with dental emergencies who could not wait for care.
Dr. Struve used his canoe to bring in a handful of patients to his practice, as well as some employees.
The dental clinic is planning to fully reopen July 9, the report said.
