Community Dental Care, a nonprofit dental clinic with five locations in Minnesota, has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit stemming from a cyberattack that affected 134,903 patients, ClaimDepot reported Aug. 24.
Community Dental Care launched an investigation after becoming aware of unauthorized activity in its computer system in December 2024. That investigation determined that certain personal information was accessed or acquired without authorization by an unknown actor, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, medical information and health insurance information. The nonprofit disclosed the breach in April 2025.
Class members — individuals whose personal information was accessed in the breach — may submit claims for up to $5,000 in documented out-of-pocket losses incurred between Dec. 20, 2024, and Oct. 19, 2026, including costs related to identity theft, credit monitoring, ID replacement and related expenses.
