Missouri dental school taps new dean after yearlong search

Following a yearlong search, the University of Missouri-Kansas City has named Steven Haas, DMD, the dean of its dental school, The American Dental Education Association reported July 20.

Dr. Haas comes from Lincoln-based University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, where he serves as associate dean for clinical affairs and interim chair of the Department of Adult Restorative Dentistry, according to a UMKC news release.

Set to begin his tenure Aug. 16, Dr. Haas will focus on improving diverse representation and inclusivity within the school; growing research; interprofessional collaboration; and innovation and advancement in clinical practice and community, specifically among communities of color and other underrepresented communities in the area.
