Here are five takeaways:

1. Floss Bar enables dental hygienists to freelance and schedule cleanings and flossing in the dental office they are employed at during off-hours when the dentists is unavailable.

2. Dentists at the practice still get a piece of the profit. Floss Bar schedules around the odd hours when the dentist is out of the office or on-call.

3. The app allows patients to choose between undergoing a formal exam with a dentist on site or preventive care services from a hygienist.

4. Floss Bar hygienists can also report patient oral issues during the exam and refer the patient to a dentist through the app.

5. Over the next five years, the app hopes to partner with 1,000 dental offices across the U.S.
