New dental patient wait times drop to lowest point since August

Wait times for new patients at dental practices dropped to 18 days in November, their lowest point since August, according to a recent poll by the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

The poll was taken as part of the ADA’s monthly “Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry” report for the week of Nov. 14. 

Here are average wait times for new and existing patients at dental practices in the U.S.: 

Patients of record

September: 12 days

October: 10.5 days

November: 10.1 days

New patients

August: 24 days

September: 20.7 days

October: 20.3 days

November: 18 days
