The lawsuit claimed Diamond Braces then sent the bills to Medicaid. Oleg Drut, DDS, the owner of Diamond Braces, agreed to pay $9 million. Diamond Braces’ 19 locations must also retain an independent monitor.

Of the $9 million, $4.5 million will go toward restitution to Medicaid while the other $4.5 million is from penalties. An investigation found no patients were harmed from the uncertified employees.
