Suleman Nasimi, DDS, a dentist at Tooth Fresh Meadows in Queens, N.Y., has been arrested and charged with nearly 40 felony counts related to an alleged Medicaid fraud scheme.
Dr. Nasimi allegedly stole more than $300,000 from Medicaid by billing for dental procedures he never performed, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Sept. 28. Investigators allege that between January 2020 and August 2024, Nasimi submitted false claims for hundreds of procedures — including root canals and porcelain crown installations — on at least 35 Medicaid recipients.
Dr. Nasimi and Tooth Fresh Meadows were each charged with one count of grand larceny in the second degree, two counts of healthcare fraud in the second degree, two counts of healthcare fraud in the third degree, and 35 counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree. If convicted on the top count, Nasimi faces up to 15 years in state prison.
