New York dentist sentenced to 16 months in prison for fraud

Canajoharie, N.Y.-based dentist Martin Sorbero, DDS, was sentenced to 16 months in prison for healthcare fraud, according to WRGB Albany.

According to investigators, Dr. Sorbero forged several patient signatures and submitted $11,000 in false insurance claims. One of his fraud scheme victims includes a deceased woman.

Dr. Sorbero was fined $10,000. He already paid $125,000 in restitution.
