UNC Pembroke and the UNC Adams School of Dentistry partnered to launch an initiative for aspiring dentists to attend dental school.

The Early Assurance Program offers admission assurance into the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry once students complete undergraduate studies at UNC Pembroke, according to a May 16 news release.

Students must complete 30 college credit hours at UNC Pembroke, including 15 credit hours of prerequisite courses and have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 to qualify for the program.

The initiative aims to expand access to dental education and increase the number of dental providers in North Carolina.

In 2022, the two institutions created a similar program for admission to the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, the release said.
