A North Carolina woman accused of practicing unlicensed orthodontics is now facing an additional charge, WRAL reported Aug. 12.
Ebony McBean of Garner, N.C., was originally charged in February with three felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense and one misdemeanor count of practicing medicine without a license. An additional indictment was filed July 14 for another count of obtaining property by false pretense, bringing the total number of charges to five.
The new indictment states that Ms. McBean allegedly received nearly $3,000 from a patient between March 2024 and September 2025 for services she was not licensed to perform.
Ms. McBean was accused of providing unlicensed orthodontic services at Smiling Face Co. in Raleigh, N.C., which closed abruptly in November.
