North Carolina woman charged with practicing unlicensed orthodontics

A woman in North Carolina has been arrested and charged with practicing orthodontics without a license, according to records from the North Carolina court records. 

Ebony McBean of Garner, N.C., was charged with felony three counts of obtaining property by false pretense and one misdemeanor count of practicing medicine without a license. 

According to CBS affiliate 17 News, Ms. McBean is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from three victims at Smiling Face Co. in Raleigh, N.C. The practice closed abruptly in November and did not provide patients with much information about the closure. 

Ms. McBean waived her right to appear in Wake County Court on Feb. 16. She was arrested Feb. 13 and released on bond Feb. 14. 

The warrant for Ms. McBean’s arrest was issued in November, according to court records.
