The new services are available at pediatric practices at the system’s 11 public hospitals and three of its neighborhood clinics, according to an April 11 news release.

Hygienists at the facilities will perform assessments, provide oral hygiene education and apply fluoride varnish to prevent and treat tooth decay. They will also help parents obtain referrals to a NYC Health + Hospitals pediatric dental practice so their children can receive a comprehensive dental exam and treatment if necessary.
