NYC Health + Hospitals has received the 2027 William J. Gies Award for Eminence in Achievement for its system-wide dental residency programs.
The award recognizes individuals or institutions that demonstrate transformative achievement in oral health education, with evidence of improved collaborative practice, reduced health disparities or reduced inequities. It is the American Dental Education Association’s highest recognition in dental education, according to a Sept. 21 news release.
NYC Health + Hospitals offers 19 graduate dental education programs, including general practice residencies and specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, dental anesthesiology, dental public health and pediatric dentistry. The programs graduate more than 200 dental residents each year. Dental providers across the health system deliver more than 225,000 dental visits annually.
