The NYU Dentistry Oral Health Center for People with Disabilities has received a $5.48 million grant to improve access to care.

The funding will support the addition of eight private treatment rooms for pediatric patients with disabilities, according to an April 13 news release from the organization.

NYU opened the Oral Health Center for People with Disabilities in 2019 and currently has two sedation suites and nine rooms dedicated to providing services for individuals with disabilities.

In 2025, the center treated nearly 2,900 individuals. With the expansion, the center estimates it will triple its capacity for pediatric patients with disabilities.

The funding was granted by the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2027, the release said.
