Researchers at the center will examine the pain signaling receptors G protein-coupled receptors and receptor tyrosine kinases and how they generate oral cancer pain, according to an April 5 news release from NYU Dentistry.
The funding and research is part of the NIH’s Helping to End Addiction Long-term initiative, which is designed to develop safe and effective therapeutics to treat pain to help end the opioid crisis.
The research collaboration team includes scientists from the NYU Pain Research Center, Columbia University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering and the University of Florida, the release said.
