Currently, mobile dental units are not regulated by the state. These dental centers treat many Medicaid patients. However, these patients can struggle to get copies of X-rays or records, according to Mr. Lipps.
The new bill would require mobile dentists and the unit to register with the Ohio dental board. Mobile dentists would also be mandated to provide patient records through a statewide database.
The bill has passed the Ohio House of Representatives and is being debated in the Ohio state Senate.
