An Ohio dentist was recently put on probation for five years after admitting to drinking alcohol before work and during lunch.
Amber Wright, DDS, spoke with a board enforcement officer in January about her alcohol use and later enrolled in an in-patient treatment program, which she completed in February. She also enrolled in a virtual aftercare treatment program before being cleared to return to work at the end of March with recommendations to continue treatment and participate in monitoring deemed appropriate by the board, according to records from the Ohio State Dental Board.
Under the terms of probation, Dr. Wright is required to complete continuing education courses on substance use disorder and stress management. She is also required to abstain from the personal use or possession of all non-prescribed drugs in addition to products containing alcohol.
