Here are four dental industry updates that have taken place in California since Oct. 20: 

Children’s Dentistry of Virginia is renovating a former restaurant in Richmond to host its new office, CBS affiliate WTVR reported Nov. 16.

Dentists are finding it more difficult to own and operate private practices, leading to a decrease in practice ownership and increased consolidation under DSOs. 

Forbes has ranked its top eight lenders for refinancing loans from dental school, naming the Rhode Island Student Loan Authority as the best choice, according to a Nov. 15 report. 

Six laws will be implemented beginning Jan. 1 that will change how dentistry is practiced in Illinois.

Florida had a positive net migration of new dentists from 2019 to 2022, with a net migration rate of 5.1%, according to the American Dental Association.

Here are six dental school updates that have taken place since Oct. 23: 

Batesville, Ark.-based Lyon College is searching for a new location for its new dental and veterinary schools after a property deal fell through, kait8.com reported Nov. 13.

Patients of record at dental practices where the owner graduated dental school between 2013 and 2022 wait 20.5 days for an appointment, according to a poll from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.

Only 72.5% of dentists in private practice are owners in 2023, down from 84.7% in 2005, according to a November report from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.
