A dental school dean who announced his retirement, and two other dentists made headlines last week.

The Tennessee Health Department is proposing a $94 million program to increase dental school class sizes and forgive tuition for dental students who work in rural communities, WPLN News reported Nov. 15.

A new study from the American Dental Education Association found that dental school clinics saw a decrease in patients, revenue and off-campus community care during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the association said Nov. 10.

Joseph Zambon, DDS, PhD, dean of the University of Buffalo (N.Y.) School of Dental Medicine, will retire Jan. 5 after 39 years with the school, according to a Nov. 8. news release from the university.
