The patient told police May 20 that Albert Hazzouri, DDS, touched her over her clothing without her permission after she received dental work at his office, Hazzouri Cosmetic, Implant & Family Dentistry in Scranton, Pa.

After reporting the incident to the police, detectives set up a recorded phone call between the patient and dentist. During the call, Dr. Hazzouri reportedly apologized, saying he made a mistake and didn’t realize what he was doing until it was over, and offered the patient free dental services for life.

Dr. Hazzouri turned himself in to police and was arraigned June 29 on charges of indecent assault and harassment.

An employee at Hazzouri Cosmetic, Implant & Family Dentistry said they could not comment on the arrest when contacted by Becker’s June 30.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
