Stephen Skoly, DMD, an oral surgeon in Cranston, R.I., has launched his campaign for Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District, according to a March 25 report from 12 News.
In October 2021, Dr. Skoly was ordered to stop seeing patients after defying the state’s COVD-19 vaccine mandate. He then filed a federal lawsuit against Rhode Island in February. 2022. The First Circuit Court upheld the dismissal of the lawsuit in May 2024.
“I’m excited to officially launch this campaign surrounded by the community that has shaped and inspired me,” Dr. Skoly said in a press release. “This campaign is about listening, working together, and delivering real results for the people of the 2nd Congressional District.”
He is the second Republican candidate to enter the race against Democratic Congressman Seth Magaziner, the report said.
