Newark, N.J.-based Rutgers School of Dental Medicine has become the first dental school in the U.S. to join the International Federation of Dental Schools and Faculties (FIEFO).

FIEFO comprises dental schools from 14 countries across South America, Spain, Portugal and now the U.S., according to a Feb. 2 news release from Rutgers University.

The partnership will allow the school to build relationships with peer institutions, provide its students and faculty with opportunities to learn abroad and advance dental research.

In 2007, the dental school launched its Internationally Educated Doctor of Dental Medicine program, which has attracted dentists from across the world, the release said.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place November 12–14 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
