Congress is headed toward ending the government shutdown after the Senate approved a funding bill Nov. 10.

Seven notes:

1. The federal government is on its 42nd day of the shutdown, the longest in U.S. history.

2. The Senate advanced a funding bill with a 60-40 vote Nov. 10.

3. The bill extends funding for most government agencies, including the HHS Department, until Jan. 30.

4. Some agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, FDA and the Department of Veterans Affairs, would be funded through the full fiscal year.

5. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program would also be funded through fiscal year 2026.

6. The bill would allow the Senate to vote in December on legislation to extend the ACA subsidies set to expire at the end of this year.

7. The House could vote on the bill as soon as Nov. 12, and is expected to clear it, CBS News reported. President Donald Trump is also expected to sign the bill, which would end the shutdown.
