Here’s the latest roundup of dental companies that have been in the headlines, including Western Dental and SmileDirectClub.

1. SmileDirectClub has attempted to limit information about customer dissatisfaction through confidentiality provisions and lawsuits.

2. Austin, Texas-based Enable Dental announced Jan. 21 that it had closed its Series A financing round, with private equity group FCA Venture Partners leading.

3. Blountstown, Fla.-based MedLoyalty announced Jan. 21 the launch of a platform designed to help dentists build a subscription-based, in-house membership program as an alternative to insurance.

4. Orange, Calif.-based Western Dental & Orthodontic announced Jan. 17 that it has released its own orthodontic aligner, ClearArc.

5. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Dental365 announced Jan. 20 the opening of its 44th location, along with the acquisition of four Gentle Dental offices.

6. A former patient is demanding a refund from Franklin, Tenn.-based Taylor Made Smiles after an independent dentist hired by Delta Dental deemed the dental work “unacceptable.”
