Strategies to better market dental practices

The American Dental Association provided dentists with five steps to better market their dental practices as part of the ADA’s Practice Success module.

Here are the five tips from the ADA:

1. Identify the brand of the practice. If the practice does not have a brand, create one. Appeal to patients from a specific angle to stand out from other practices in the area.

2. Develop a strategy and benchmarking goals. Create benchmarks to track the progress of the marketing campaign. Statistics to monitor might include increased calls, more visits being scheduled, fewer no-shows for appointments and more social media engagement and referrals.

3. Design a responsive website. Websites are the best marketing tool to add patients and retain existing ones. Make sure the site is responsive and easy to navigate.

4. Track how patients find out about the practice. Ask first time callers about how they found the practice. This is useful in determining which marketing strategies are effective.

5. Ask patients to leave online reviews. Many potential patients research online reviews from past patients, so if patients compliment your practice, ask them to leave a good review online.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
