Richard Schott, DDS, was sentenced on June 7 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud. The dentist had asked the judge for a maximum 18-month sentence while prosecutors sought for four years.
Dr. Schott forced his employees at Murfreesboro Dental Excellence to submit false claims between November 2013 and January 2018, which totaled to $956,448, according to the report.
After Dr. Schott pleaded guilty to fraud in January, he sold his practice of forfeited his dental license. He had been practicing for nearly 20 years.
