Tennessee launches statewide dental care program for older adults

Tennessee recently launched a statewide oral health program dedicated to providing care for adults aged 65 and older, the Lewis County Herald reported Aug. 8.

Tennessee does not have a safety net insurance program for older adults without private dental insurance, the Herald reported.

The new dental program is being funded through a grant contract between the state and Interfaith Dental, a nonprofit organization. Services covered include cleanings, extractions, fillings and dentures.

Through the initiative, older adults will gain access to oral health services at 20 dental clinics across the state. The partners also plan to expand the program’s network to include more providers in the future.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place November 12–14 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
