A satellite campus for the UMKC School of Dentistry would be modeled after the university’s other satellite healthcare programs and aims to fill gaps in rural oral healthcare.

The UMKC School of Dentistry is the only public dental school in the state and trains more than 60% of dentists in Missouri.

The school’s DDS main campus program admits around 109 students per year. If approved, the satellite campus would admit 40 additional students.

The university is partnering with state, federal and philanthropic leaders to raise $12 million in renovation and startup costs for the satellite campus, the report said.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
