United Way said Jan. 6 it will give $50,000 annually for three years to help cover the salary of a second dentist at Promise Healthcare’s SmileHealthy Frances Nelson Dental Center in Champaign.

SmileHealthy provides dental care on a sliding fee scale based on household income and size. It will track the number of patients served, while Promise Healthcare will report the number of emergency room visits for dental pain in Champaign County.
