The UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry has earned three grants to address treatment and pain management of oral cancer.
Researchers at the dental school will investigate new targets to stem oral squamous cell carcinoma and novel approaches to treat oral mucositis, massive inflammation and ulcers in the oral cavity that can result from radiotherapy treatment, according to a Nov. 7 news release from the university.
One of the three grants will research drug development for oral cancer pain management and treatment.
Oral squamous cell carcinoma accounts for more than 95% of oral cancer cases.
