Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry received a $5 million gift from the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation.
The $5 million will be used for the university’s new dental school building, which will expand clinical capacity, improve training for future dentists and strengthen patient care, according to an Aug. 21 news release from VCU.
The VCU School of Dentistry is the only dental school in Virginia and the state’s primary dental safety-net clinic, providing more than 100,000 patient visits each year.
The gift is the largest cash donation in the school’s history and the largest contribution ever made by the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation, the release said.
