Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University is partnering with the Kahler Slater architecture firm to construct a new building for its dental school.

The 312,000-square-foot facility will be used to complete more than 100,000 patient visits each year, according to a June 17 news release. It will also include flexible spaces to accommodate and foster increased collaboration between the dental school, VCU Health and other VCU Health Sciences schools.

Construction is slated to begin in May 2027 and be completed in late 2029.

The VCU School of Dentistry is the only dental school in Virginia.
