The Virginia Board of Dentistry alleges that Kevin Kiely, DDS, wrote controlled substance prescriptions for his employees and then diverted the substances for his own personal use, according to a report from the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Dr. Kiely also inappropriately prescribed Scheduled II and IV substances to employees and patients for non-therapeutic purposes, without any corresponding treatment records and for conditions that exceed the scope of his license.

In addition, Dr. Kiely did not cooperate with investigators from the state department of health professionals and the DEA, attempting to obstruct investigations through witness intimidation and coercion, according to the board.
