West Virginia recently enacted a law requiring in-person exams before orthodontic treatments.

SB 710 requires an in-person examination by an orthodontist or dentist as well as a radiograph before receiving orthodontic treatment. The bill also includes requirements around informed consent and advertising.

West Virginia is the fifth state to enact these requirements, following Utah, Florida, Nevada and Illinois.
