Here are four things to know:
1. Oscar Guevara allegedly posed as a dentist at his wife’s practice. Allure Dental is owned by Amy Rojas, DDS. On the practice’s website, Mr. Guevara is listed as a dentist despite having no formal training.
2. Investigators allege Mr. Guevara installed the braces in March. The teenager needed follow-up treatment and remedial care from a licensed dentist.
3. Dr. Rojas and Mr. Guevara are also accused of fraudulent billing. Investigators believe Dr. Rojas billed insurers for procedures performed by Mr. Guevara.
4. Dr. Rojas was charged with healthcare claims fraud and conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud while her husband was charged with practicing dentistry without a license and conspiracy to commit healthcare claims fraud.
