Kool Smiles surpasses $128M in uncompensated care milestone, launches classroom grant program: 5 things to know

Kool Smiles is honoring five kindergarten through fifth grade teachers with $1,000 grands as part of its My Kool smiles Classroom Grant Program.

Here are five things to know:

1. The grants will be awarded to teachers who promote dental health and collaboration in the classroom. Submissions for the grant must include examples of dental plans or healthy dental habits promotion within the classroom.

2. In celebration of Children's Dental Health month, Kool Smiles announced its dentists have provided more than $128 million in uncompensated care to uninsured children and families.

3. Kool Smiles' uncompensated dental programs covers more than one million children across 14 states and the District of Columbia.

4. Approximately 90 percent of Kool Smiles patients are covered by Medicaid.

5. Along with providing dental treatment, Kool Smiles provided 200,000 toothbrushes to disaster victims and communities in 2017.
