Dallas-based Smile Doctors, an orthodontics-focused DSO, introduced a joint venture partnership model for its partner doctors.
The new model allows for partners to hold ownership of practices at the local level and also join in the success of the DSO on the network level, according to an Oct. 11 news release from Smile Doctors.
The DSO added seven new affiliates to its network in the third quarter, surpassing 415 affiliated practices across 28 states.
The company also opened a de novo location in Arlington, Va., and plans to open more de novo locations in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas and Florida over the next six months.
Smile Doctors raised $550 million in capital in June and is using the funds to launch the new model, add practices and open de novo locations, the release said.
