Delta Dental grants UCLA School of Dentistry $1.5M to provide care to low-income communities: 4 takeaways

UC Los Angeles School of Dentistry received a $1.5 million donation from Delta Dental of California to launch a new program, according to the Daily Bruin.

Here are four takeaways:

1. The new program aims to provide Medicaid patients and patients who receive inadequate medical attention with proper dental care.

2. UCLA School of Dentistry plans to partner with 12 surrounding dental clinical that focus on providing care to individuals who live at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

3. The grant also allows the school to develop an online mentorship program for patients and to deploy electronic health monitoring systems during appointments.

4. This is Delta Dental’s largest grant to a dental school. UCLA School of Dentistry hopes the grant will give its students further experience working with patients.
