Her appointment comes after the school announced in January that the current dean, Clark Stanford, DDS, PhD, would step down from his position to become the dean of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in Iowa City.

Dr. Rowan currently serves as the school’s executive associate dean and associate dean for clinical affairs and is a clinical professor in its restorative dentistry department. She received her dental degree from the school in 1984.

She has played a major role in several of the school’s infrastructure and renovation projects and fundraising campaigns, the school said. She is also credited with helping to maintain the school’s clinical services during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the well-being of the school’s community.
