ADA exec appointed dean of University of Buffalo dental school

Marcelo Araujo, DDS, PhD, will begin a new role as dean of the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine May 15.

Dr. Araujo will replace Stefan Ruhl, DDS, who has been serving in the interim since Joseph Zambon, DDS, PhD, announced he would retire in January 2022 after 30 years at the school.

Dr. Araujo currently serves as chief science officer of the American Dental Association and CEO of the ADA Science & Research Institute, according to a March 10 news release. He has previously worked as a faculty member at the university’s School of Dental Medicine and School of Public Health and Health Professions.
