Dr. Marcelo Araujo elected to FDI World Dental Federation Science Committee

Marcelo Araujo, DDS, PhD, dean of the University at Buffalo (N.Y.) School of Dental Medicine, has been elected to the FDI World Dental Federation’s Science Committee.

Dr. Araujo was elected during the FDI 2026 General Assembly in Prague last month. His candidacy was presented by the American Dental Association, which is an FDI Regular Member. He will serve a three-year term through 2029, according to an Oct. 1 news release.

The six-member committee provides scientific expertise to support FDI’s global oral health advocacy, develops scientific papers and policy statements and advises the FDI’s Council on communicating scientific information to oral health professionals. 

Dr. Araujo was appointed dean at the UB dental school in 2023. He previously served as chief science officer of the ADA and CEO of the ADA Science & Research Institute.
