ClearChoice's CEO on what's next after hitting 100 practices

For this implant-focused DSO, providing top-notch patient care is one of the biggest factors in its success, according to its CEO.

Greenwood Village, Colo.-based ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers reached the 100-practice milestone earlier this month, supporting locations in more than 30 states.

Rahma Samow, CEO of ClearChoice, recently connected with Becker's to discuss the company's 100-practice milestone, goals for the year, and the industry trends she is following.

Note: Responses were lightly edited for length and clarity.

Question: What have been some keys to success in reaching the 100-practice milestone?

Rahma Samow: For 18 years, ClearChoice has been an innovator in the dental implant space. We pioneered the model for bringing the entire dental implant treatment process under one roof, with one highly specialized team of prosthodontists, oral surgeons and an on-site lab, for one fixed cost, making this procedure more accessible, efficient and seamless for patients. We continue to be a leader for the industry by designing and testing new technologies and restorative solutions that enhance the patient experience and outcomes. Because of our unwavering commitment to doing what is right for each individual patient, and having a strong value system that is rooted in empathy, we've been able to bring world-class dental implant care nationwide in 100 facilities and counting.

Q: Where do you see there being additional areas for expansion and success in the future?

RS: As the national leader in fixed full-arch dental implant treatments, ClearChoice is always driving towards expanding, innovating and improving our care practice by addressing both the clinical care and technology we use to deliver the best possible patient experience. With 120 million Americans missing one or more teeth, and 36 million having no teeth, there's still a significant need for ClearChoice to continue changing lives by providing accessible dental implant care and restorative dentistry in more cities across the U.S. We aim to further enhance our services and reach more patients by diversifying our treatment options as well. Ultimately, it is our goal to expand our footprint and restorative solutions so that more individuals suffering from oral disease have access to our world-class expertise and care.

Q: How does ClearChoice set itself apart from other DSOs and dental organizations with the industry being more and more congested?

RS: To begin, ClearChoice is the No. 1 fixed full-arch dental implant provider in the U.S. We've treated more than 150,000 patients and placed over 1 million implants since 2005. With 100 centers now in 35 states across the U.S., we are the only national network specializing in dental implants with this kind of reach. However, what truly sets us apart is our approach to patient care. Beginning with our expertise and quality care, the ClearChoice network is made up of highly trained, nationally recognized doctors who have experience treating the most complex cases. Second, we offer a full spectrum of teeth replacement solutions and one-day smile transformations to fit our patients' dental needs, lifestyle and budget. Lastly, we take a personalized and empathetic approach to treating every patient who comes through our doors. From the smile design process to ensuring proper healing, dental fit and function, each patient receives a treatment plan that is customized specifically to their needs.

Q: What are the company's goals for the rest of 2024?

RS: First and foremost, we want to maintain our position as the No. 1 leader in fixed full-arch and full mouth restorations, and we can only do this by expanding access to care for more people. For ClearChoice, this means growing our national footprint and expanding our treatment options. In 2024, we aim to grow the network by double digits and focus on diversifying our treatment options in all centers across the network. Central to all of this, however, is continuing to build our culture and retaining the best team members and doctors who are committed to our vision. It is critically important to me that we continue to grow and nurture the talent we have within the organization and that we empower our people to do their best work on behalf of our patients.

Q: What are some current dental/DSO industry trends that you are currently following?

RS: The DSO model is increasing in popularity, and in turn, DSOs are driving overall implant and orthodontic market awareness, which is great for patient education and patient care. I believe we will see the entire dental industry adopt the technology and clinical excellence that DSOs are championing. We are closely following advancements in technology, like 3D printing and AI/robotics and experimenting with new materials, to bring broader and better treatment solutions to more patients.
