The old way of selling a dental practice through a dental broker could soon be changing, according to one dentist.
With new methods of posting dental practices that are for sale and the ability to generate interest through social media, dentists can avoid the broker fee and find the buyer and deal that makes the most sense for them.
Bridgett Jorgensen, DMD, a dentist of North Gwinnett Dental Care in Sugar Hill, Ga., recently connected with Becker’s to share a big trend that could come out in the next six months.
Question: What will be the biggest trend that emerges in the dental industry during the second half of 2025?
Dr. Bridgett Jorgensen: I think going through a dental broker to sell a practice or to find opportunities is over. Brokers and their 10% fee to sell a practice is unneeded in today’s social media and anonymous posting era. A person can decide to sell their practice, post anonymously on one of many sites available for free or a small fee, gather all interested parties, and sell to the best choice completely on their own. A valuation is usually done by a CPA or CVA, and an attorney will be needed to write up the purchase agreement, but those professionals charge less than $15,000- $20,000, a far cry from the six figure fee charged by dental brokers.
