7 notes on Interfaith Medical Center's new dental center

Brooklyn-based Interfaith Medical Center President Steven Korf and David J. Miller, DDS, chairman of dental medicine, were on hand to cut the ribbon on the new dental center located in the hospital's east building, according to a release. During the event, elementary school students received free dental screenings.

Here are seven things to know about the new facility:

1. Mr. Korf said he is proud of the new, modern facilities, which are the result of a year-long expansion effort, lead by Dr. Miller.

2. The dental center features seven dental suites, an in-house dental anesthesia OR suite and monitors to display educational materials from intraoral cameras.

3 An expected opening date is July 1.

4. The center aims to offer comprehensive services for children and adults, including patients with medical, physical or intellectual abilities.

5. Services for patients will also include preventive and restorative dentistry; fixed/removable prosthodontics; pediatric dentistry; orthodontics; periodontics; endodontics, oral surgery and implants.

6. The Dental Center is the latest component in the expansion of Interfaith's Dental Medicine Program.

7. In the coming months, the department plans to extend its evening and weekend hours
with a long-term goal to keep the Dental Center open seven days a week.
