Henry Schein launches 2015 Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities Program — 7 things to know

Henry Schein, the world's largest provider of healthcare products and services to dental, animal health and medical practitioners, announced the launch of the 2015 Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities program as part of its Henry Schein Cares initiative.

Here are seven things to know:

1. The HLHC program is projected to serve approximately 8,700 children and their caregivers throughout the United States. The program presently has 14 health fair events planned.

2. Each health fair will receive a $5,000 in-kind donation and a $5,000 cash grant through the Henry Schein Cares Foundation. More than $70,000 in supplies and financial assistance have been donated to support almost 80 health fair events since HLHC's inception.

3. The program's goal is to improve access to healthcare, prevention and wellness for the underserved communities by administering free medical and dental screenings around the U.S.

4. Henry Schein partnered with the National Association of Community Health Centers to develop the HLHC program.

5. State and local community health organizations co-sponsor the HLHC program with support from Henry Schein's supplier partners.

6. Medical professionals screen for hypertension, asthma, diabetes, obesity and poor oral health at each HLHC event.

7. Additionally, medical professionals provide educational materials about ways to prevent and treat these problems and provide information about finding a local community health center where they may receive on a regular basis.
